Hello! I’m Alexa a freshman at UCSB. I am currently a pre-bio major and intend on graduating with a B.S. in biology. I am a SoCal native, I grew up in the city of Oxnard about 40 minutes form Santa Barbara. My goals are to get my bachelors in biology here in UCSB and then go to nursing school to become an RN.

An assignment I did for another class was an essay on the subject of residential schools. This was a two part research paper where we had to look at primary and secondary sources and write about what native residential schools were and what effects it had on the people who attended.

Soc 152A
There weren’t any projects for this class, but I would like to share my thought on it and recommend it to anyone that might be interested in it as a GE glass. In this class we talked about the sociology of sexualities. A funny thing about it is that I had confused it with another class which was about the history of sexualities, but this class turned out to be much different. Although not what I expected it was very interesting and educational of course in its own way. It taught us about not only the sociology of men and women and their relationships but also about normalizing the human body and its physiology.
Things that help me in school====by distracting me from school
One of the things I enjoy doing to help relive stress from school is painting. I try to paint simple things or else, I’ll l get stressed again lol.
As of now I’m commuting which means I get to be with my pets and it really helps to have them around while I study!
A third thing I like to do is grow plants. It is something very calming that makes me feel connected to nature.
